Single row deep groove ball bearing: what the series digit changes

A single row deep groove ball bearing has one row of balls running in deep, continuous grooves in both rings. The groove depth is what lets it carry axial load in both directions as well as radial load, and the single row is what keeps friction low and speed high. Every size in the ENRO list is single row; the series digit after the first digit 6 tells you how much section you get for a given bore. The 25 mm bore below shows the progression from the thin 67 series to the heavy 64 series.

Load ratings, limiting speeds and weights are catalog reference values. Values are confirmed per batch on request.

The same bore appears in up to eight sections. Pick the section from the housing bore and the load, not from habit: a 6205 in a 52 mm housing cannot be swapped for a 6305 without a 62 mm housing, but where the housing allows it the 63 series gives roughly half again the dynamic rating for the same shaft.

Deep groove radial ball bearing: load directions and limits

Catalogues also call this type a deep groove radial ball bearing, because its primary load is radial. The deep groove lets it take axial load too, within limits that depend on the size and the internal clearance, and it locates the shaft in both directions with one bearing. It does not tolerate misalignment: a few minutes of arc between shaft and housing is the practical limit, beyond which the balls run up the groove shoulder and life falls quickly.

Deep groove ball bearing suppliers: how to compare lists

Boundary dimensions are fixed by ISO 15, so every deep groove ball bearing supplier sells the same sizes. What differs between suppliers is whether the data is published, whether every unit is inspected, and whether the box and label stay the same from one order to the next. ENRO publishes d, D, B and catalogue ratings on every model page, inspects every unit before shipment, and ships in the same box with the same label. The bearing supplier page lists every series with its bore range and versions, and the bearing cross reference matches a number from another list by size.

The sizes below are the ones ENRO lists with a typical application and the ones most often requested by distributors. Each link opens the model page with dimensions, ratings, versions and neighbouring sizes.

Motor and generator sizes are grouped on the electric motor bearing page, hub sizes on the motorcycle bearing page and every size with 2RS seals on the sealed bearing page. Purchase systems often write the item noun-first as bearing ball deep groove single row; that description covers every size in the table. Send any part number and we'll match the dimensionally equivalent ENRO model.

Buyer notes

What to check before you order

Match bore d, outside diameter D and width B to the old bearing, not just the series. A 6205 and a 6305 share the 25 mm bore but differ in D and B.

If the marking is worn, measure the rings with calipers and use the size finder.

FAQ

Deep Groove Ball Bearing FAQ

What is a deep groove ball bearing?

A deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing whose inner and outer rings have deep, continuous raceway grooves. It carries radial loads and moderate axial loads in both directions and suits high speeds.

What is a deep groove?

The "deep groove" is the raceway: a continuous groove in each ring whose curvature closely matches the ball. That close conformity lets the bearing take axial load in both directions as well as radial load.

What are the key differences between a deep groove ball bearing and a regular ball bearing?

"Ball bearing" is the wider family. It also includes angular contact, self-aligning and thrust ball bearings. A deep groove ball bearing is the most common general-purpose type: symmetric deep raceways, radial plus two-way axial capacity, and the widest choice of shields and seals.

What is the bearing number for a deep groove ball bearing?

The first digits give the series (for example 60, 62, 63) and the last two give the bore code: 00 = 10 mm, 01 = 12 mm, 02 = 15 mm, 03 = 17 mm, and from 04 up the code × 5 gives the bore in mm. 6205 is therefore a 62-series bearing with a 25 mm bore. Suffixes such as ZZ or 2RS describe shields or seals.

Where are ENRO bearings made?

ENRO bearings are Made in China by partner factories, under Japan-managed quality control. Every unit passes 100% outgoing inspection before shipment.

Can you match a part number from another brand?

Send any part number and we'll match the dimensionally equivalent ENRO model. Matching is by boundary dimensions only (dimensionally interchangeable).

What are your payment terms?

Payment terms are as set out in the sales contract.

Can you send a spec sheet before I order?

Every model page is the spec sheet: boundary dimensions, r min, the versions offered and catalog reference ratings where confirmed. Send the model number and we will confirm the values for your order in writing.

Do you list internal clearance per model?

Clearance groups follow ISO 5753-1 (C2, CN, C3, C4, C5). Model pages list the versions ENRO offers; the clearance group available for a given model and quantity is confirmed on the RFQ.

Which HS code applies to ENRO bearings?

Ball bearings fall under heading 8482.10 and spherical roller bearings under 8482.30; the code is shown on the model page where listed for the type. Your broker confirms the national tariff line for your destination.

What is the difference between ball and roller bearings?

Balls touch the raceway at a point, rollers along a line. Ball bearings run faster with less friction; roller bearings carry more load for the same size.
